Can you tell a story in 269 characters?

The Serious Flash Fiction project is a twitter challenge for writers everywhere. Simply log on to twitter (create an account if you don’t have one - we dare you) and tell us a story in a maximum of 269 characters.
Why 269 characters, I hear you ask? Because twitter has a 280 character limit and you need to end all tweets with #SFFiction to enter. That's right, we've stolen 11 characters from you!?!

How to get involved

Simply log on to Twitter and tweet us a story. End all your tweets with #SFFiction to join the challenge.

What do I write about?

There is no set theme, no set genre, nothing to hold back your inspiration - just a limit of 269 characters. This is experimental writing at its best. How much can you tell us, how much can you grip us, what worlds can you take us to? Good luck!

Want an example?

Here's a few of our favourites from our last launch. Log on to twitter and search #SFFiction to see all of the past entries, or why not head to amazon and buy a copy of our anthology to see what makes the cut.
She comes up to bed an hour after me. I watch as she brushes her hair in the mirror, smile as she hums some half-remembered song. As she slides beneath the covers I think how lucky I am to have found her. I'll crawl out from under the bed once she's sleeping.

The new girl in class is pretty.
I feel funny when she looks at me.
Does she know how much I like her?
I'm gonna push her over.

She cried chamomile tears

The gaunt man leans to one side unsteady, as he squints back at you. He has your piercing blue eyes, that all the girls love, framed by your grandfather's lines.
His brow furrows as you wonder how he ended up in your favourite jumper; but you're at a loss, and so is he.
